Boat Insulation From Cruise Ships to Narrowboats - Welcome to Boat Insulation
With over 20 years experience developing marine and automotive solutions with insulation products we strive to be the very best at designing automotive and boat insulation solutions.
Our business started in 2022, however we have over 20 years experience in developing components for marine vessels. Boat Insulation is growing year on year due to our expertise.
All of our products are developed for use in marine environements. Whether you are looking for a low water absorption, high acoustic absorption product or a mass loaded vinyl noise barrier, you should find this within our product range.
Specifically developed boat insulation materials delivered right to you door!
We strive for perfection when it comes to developing and designing solutions for marine insulation products. Whether your vessels transits the canals all year round or the deep ocean we have boat insulation products to suit your application. Since inception we have delivered boat insulation products throughout the industry including one off cupboards all the way through to full boat installation.
Our products are unique within the marketplace and have been derived and modified from the same materials used for sound and heat insulation within the UK's premium automotive sector.
Let us mention the different types of boats and marine vessels which will require insulation and for which purposes. (Remeber once fitted it lasts a lifetime)
Narrowboats: Narrowboats are fairly unique and when it comes to insulation we have the perfect products for the required solution. I know from experience it can be noisy when transiting the Birmingham Ring on the canals. If only the boat I was on had a top notch insulation solution provided by Boat Insulation!
Also they tend to get cold in the wintertime and stiffling in the summer. This is where some of our acoustic and thermal boat insulation materials can come in to offer you a solution to these problems.
The products you could be looking at are a little further down the boat insulation blog.
Cruisers (river and sea): Cruisers are usually insulated from the factory if it is post 2020, however there may be a cupboard or cabin areas you want to use for beverage storage and dislike condensation as the area becomes unusuable. This is where some of our boat insulation materials come in. Once fitted they last a lifetime - never failing to insulate the designated area.
Remember with insulation coverage is key and you will only insulate where you apply insulation to (with the exception of sound absorption properties as they work by absorbing the sound present and reducing the sound pressure)
Cruise Ships: Cruise ships are a floating paradise usually unless you have noisy neighbours. Some of the older ships are poorly insulated and could do with a refurbishment. This is where our products come in, to provide an aftermarket addition for a small cost to ensure customer satisfaction from this working boat.
There are many products which can be fitted within a cruise ship for insulation purposes and we will outline these further in this blog.
Let us now look at some of the areas of a boat which may require boat insulation materials.
There are many areas of a vessel where you can utilise boat insulation materials these include:
Engine bay or engine room: Usually the noisiest area of the vessel some boats can produce noise in excess of 100dB. This can cause hearing issues with prolonged exposure. There are also many areas around the engine (especially if it is turbo charged) which may require insulation for thermal properties. A hot pipe can cause servere burns if treated with the right insulation material this can reduce the temperature over half. Boat Insulation have products which are capable of over 1000 degrees C. These include marine exhaust wrap and lower temperature products such as fibre X which is okay to 500 at its core.
Toilet: Many want peace when they use the boats toilets. It can be an area of high noise especially at night when the chain flushes it can awake occupants. However with the right boat insulation products you can combat this noise at source and leave a delightful environment for guests and occupants.
Between Cabins: I have been on vessels with no boat insulation at all and can confirm that trying to get a good nights rest is fairly impossible. With one or two of our products your staff, crew and guests will sleep comfortably reaady for the day afters work, play or rest.
Between Floors: If you are lucky enough to own a large ship with floors our boat insulation materials can be fitted between floors to offer your guests privacy and peace. Some are only 3mm thick and can offer 27dB reduction in sound transmission.
Cupboards and lockers: If you have an unusable cupboard due to condensation please contact us for the perfect boat insulation. This will transform your voyage as the prohibative cupboards thus become useable for extra supplies, bedding storage and valuables.
Which boat insulation does Boat Insulation have available?
Here we will look into the various boat insulation materials we have available. We have many more in stock at our range of suppliers. All made in the UK or EU. We take pride in our boat insulation materials and try to offer the best product for the solution required.
DeciLAM
DeciLAM is a useful boat insulation product. It meets EUROCLASS B S-2-D0 and is capable of reducing noise by 27dB. This is amazing from a product only measuring 3mm in thickness. Predominantly used for sound insulation purposes, however it may get rid of condensation as the panels of a vessel get very cold and tend to condensate. It is adhesive backed and can be fitted to most substrates. Some substrates may need a primer or PVA adhesive to ensure it is a clean surface you on bonding to. However, this boat insulation material can be fitted into the following applications:
Between cabins, between floors, toilets and within the engine room (note the temperature performance is 60 degrees so it may need additional protection for this application.)
PVC Nitrile Class 0 Foam Insulation
This product is a game changer for thermal and acoustic insulation on boats and marine vessels. At only 19mm thick it can do away with condensation and offers great acoustic results. Manufactured in a ISO9001 factory in Germany this boat insulation is available with and without adhesive backing. It is pretty much waterproof and resists chemicals, allowing it to be fitted into dirty/wet areas. This versatile boat insulation material can be fitted into the following areas:
Cupboards and lockers, engine room applications, between floors, between cabins and toilets.
ButylMAT
This awesome boat insulation material can be fitted in a range of applications and stops panels resonance whilst blocking noise from transferring between bulkheads and walls. At only 1.7mm thich and weighing 3Kg/m it is very dense and also has a UV stable facing material. Heat reflective in nature and capable of bonding to most surfaces including plastics, you will not be disappointed with this product. It is manufactured in the UK and offers great acoustic and thermal performance. It is essentially an outdoor butyl mat with aluminium finish to one face. This marine insulation material can be fitted to the following applications:
Engine room or compartment, around ducting, external protection, bulkhead.
